So I was quite proud that I had never had to reinstall Windows since my first Windows XP laptop way back when. Many peers would talk of “refreshing” their PCs – LOSERS! Just look after your PC and it will not get wrecked! You fools!!! I have always said.
I had a hairy moment back in 2011 when a .Net Framework update somehow overwrote my MBR :-000 !! But I managed to recover the system, identify the dodgy update by reinstalling updates one at a time, and recover the system again for good by banning the update from installing ever again.
But Windows 10 this year has really got me riled. After each big update there are driver errors and corruptions which need to be identified and fixed. We had a Culmulative update a couple of months ago, after which my system would BSOD at least once a day – seemingly for no reason, but it was straight after the update. I finally bit the bullet after a few weeks of frustration and reimaged my home laptop for the first time ever. After that, everything was perfect, no driver problems, no BSODs, life is good again ^_^
Two days ago I installed the 2018-09 Culmulative updates. Guess what is happening? BSODing each day with the same type of error. Fuck you Microsoft! It’s as if they actually fired the entire test team this year. Goddamm assholes! I am seriously considering switching to Linux and running Windows VMs – I can not take this fucking annoyance and hard work for such an unstable peice of crap OS. FUCK WINDOWS 10 & FUCK REDMOND. Cunts.
Yours truly #keyboardwarrior
OK, some good news. No BSODing since I posted this article. The only thing I did was run the following:
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:myReimageUSB\boot.wim
It completed and gave no indication that it had made any changes, but have had no BSOD in 2 days. KEEP GOING!
I have not seen a new install of W10 successfully complete installation of all recommended updates on its first couple tries, let alone its first try.. When it comes to leaving open windows of insecurity for malicious attackers andor automated attacks which exploit any one of the smorgasbord of tried and true vulnerabilities during the window of time between connecting to the internet and completing all the needed patches: Windows might as well be named Backdoors
Updates CAN be deployed offline, from an external source, and things can probably be made to be just as good and better than W7. Even today, I recommend Windows 7, it can be bought cheap with OEM codes and its gives you much less to worry about than W10, especially where security and privacy are concerned.. at least so it seems!
nice blog btw C:
You were right the first time , window 10 is indeed a fucken piece of shit.
We still running Windows 7 on our business machines. I run a tax accounting practice and we simply cannot afford to spend everyday fucking around with MS Spyware ver 10. Fuck them I’ll switch to MacOS or Linux if we ever have to change. We will will never use Windows10!
Been with Microsoft since MS Dos 4. Windows 10 has convinced me it’s time to say goodbye.
Goodbye Microsoft.
..and hello to what for yourself?
Every update ive had on windows 10 has fucked my machine, Thousands of pounds worth, Mr gates needs to boot them up the arse for destroying windows completeley what a bunch of cunts, Im writing this on windows 7 which works great on my slower comp, Ive tried everything and im about at the end of my tether, AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Couldn’t agree more. Windows 10 here has two persistent problems. One is it’s agonizingly SLOW. The second is that sound goes away frquently. Any time I want sound, I can count on havint to rebootstrap, then, go to lunch while Windows 10 struggles it’s way back to life. I hate Microshit.
And it still doesn’t have an email client like WLM other than Outlook sludgeware.
I am not a big fan of mail clients generally, but have you tried the default “Mail” app? Seems lightweight, however I only use it to display notifications from my google calendar
Goodbye Micro$hit, welcome Linux Mint.
